I Wait Alone

Every star surrounds me, every planet comes
The mountains bow, and rivers flow to say “hello”
Clouds form endless gestures of honour
My face glows with patterns of maroon

My hair is set in glamorous locks
My face decked with layers of beauty
My neck perfumed with myrrh and aloes
I’m wrapped in eternal folds of cotton

I am waiting for him, waiting and waiting
Counting my breaths by the still river
Bathing in the sun just raising its veil
Hearing the lights from the heavens

The silence consumes me, I fear the night
I stare in the mirror, seeing only myself
All that surrounds me are the wonders of God
As I wait wondering whether he will come
